We are the recipients of lots of lovely gifts here at Ben’s Centre from time to time. In the summer ‘Peace in the Park’ made us one of their three charities they supported and we were given an amazing cheque of £1,000. We manned a stall representing Ben’s Centre at the event, and all the staff and volunteers had a really good day. We met such a lovely array of people and we were able to talk about the work we do here. On top of all that we received the cheque which will be so useful to us and for which we are so grateful.Last week a company rang us and asked if we could use some boxes of Baking Potatoes. We said yes and we received 4 boxes of potatoes that will be quickly used. In fact for lunch yesterday we had baked potatoes as part of the meal. Again we are so grateful and it all helps us in the day to day running of Ben’s Centre. To run a Centre like ours takes a lot of money. At the moment we are looking at ways we can generate money for Ben’s Centre. As a life-skill clients have been making cards. They really love doing this activity and Client’s self-esteem at seeing what is produced, is raised considerably. We did a trial run at our AGM in September and we raised over £120. It was so good to hear our guests chatting with the clients about how they were made and then buying them. On the strength of this we are having an Open Afternoon to sell more things we have made. It will have a lot more than the cards to sell and will be a chance for visitors to come into the Centre and see all we do as well. It is on Saturday November 15th 1.30pm - 4.30pm. We invite anyone who is interested to come and join us. Gifts like these are such an encouragement to us and allow us to continue the work we are doing here in the City. So once again a big thank you.
